Content Moderation Policy

XChange Lebanon hosts user-generated listings, dealer profiles, reviews, and messages. This policy describes what content is prohibited, how moderation works, and what to do if you disagree with a decision.
1. Prohibited content
You may not post any listing, profile, photo, review, or message that:
- Is illegal in Lebanon — including but not limited to firearms,
ammunition, explosives, controlled drugs, stolen goods, counterfeit goods, fake currency, or any item that requires a licence you do not hold.
- Promotes hate or harm — content that attacks a person or group
on the basis of religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or political affiliation.
- Is sexual or pornographic — XChange is a general marketplace and
is not the place for sexual services or adult content.
- Targets minors — anything that sexualises, endangers, or
exploits children.
- Endangers public safety — calls for violence, instructions for
weapons or explosives, or content glorifying terrorism.
- Is fraudulent or scammy — listings designed to phish, defraud,
collect money for a non-existent item, or impersonate another user or business.
- Misleads on price or condition — bait-and-switch listings,
hidden surcharges, undisclosed defects.
- Violates intellectual property — counterfeit branded goods,
pirated software or media.
- Reveals personal data — sharing another person's phone number,
ID, address, or financial information without their consent.
- Spams the platform — repetitive listings, multi-account listing
duplication, unrelated keyword stuffing, off-topic dealer reviews.
- Off-platform payment schemes — listings that demand wire
transfers, cryptocurrency, or gift cards before viewing an item are treated as fraud.
This list is not exhaustive. Our moderators may remove anything that violates the spirit of these rules.
2. Reporting content
Every listing, profile, and message has a Report button. Pick the closest reason from the list, add a short note if helpful, and submit. Anonymous reports go to our moderation queue.
You can also email report@xchangelb.com if you have an issue we can't capture through the in-app form.
3. How reports are reviewed
Our moderation queue is monitored during business hours, seven days a week. Our targets:
- Critical reports (child safety, weapons, imminent harm):
reviewed within 2 hours.
- Standard reports (scams, prohibited goods, hate content):
reviewed within 24 hours.
- Low-severity reports (spam, off-topic listings, broken images):
reviewed within 72 hours.
Listings flagged by multiple users or by our automated checks are escalated immediately.
4. Enforcement actions
When we find a violation, the action depends on its severity and the user's prior history.
1. Warning — minor first-time issues. The listing is removed and the user is notified by email and in-app. 2. Listing removal without warning — for clear violations or repeated minor issues. 3. Account suspension — temporary lockout (typically 7 to 30 days) for serious or repeated violations. 4. Permanent ban — for severe violations (child safety, fraud rings, repeated bans). The account, its listings, dealer profiles, and reviews are removed from public view. 5. Reporting to authorities — for content that constitutes a criminal offence under Lebanese law.
5. Appeals
If you believe a moderation decision was wrong, reply to the notification email or open a support ticket from your account. A senior moderator will review the case within 5 business days. We will tell you the outcome and the reason in writing.
6. Transparency
We publish aggregated moderation statistics on the admin transparency page when meaningful volume is reached. We do not publish details of individual cases.
7. Account safety
Some of our most damaging fraud cases start with a hijacked account. We strongly recommend:
- A long, unique password.
- Biometric unlock on your phone.
- Never sharing your SMS verification code, even with someone who
claims to be from XChange.
